sometimes its good just to avoid a lot of communications, and that's sorta what i've been doing lately, pretty much avoiding emails, messengers, etc. and ya know what, i've been getting things done. working on comic stuff, reading more, getting a proper amount of sleep and feeling more awake during the day.
so i'll probably slowly re-introduce myself to communicating more over the next week or so. but still it's good to avoid too much of it.

ugh, stressed. had a crap weekend in which i remember very little, and i'm pretty sure i was not plesant.
at work early, super early, like woke up at six, couldn't sleep. had a dream there were bugs in the bed. at work now at 7:30am,
somedays i wish there wasn't a weekend, because i always mess my sleep schedule up after a weekend and i like the structure that the work week brings.
sat around all sunday and watched movies, from what i recall i watched:
dick tracy gladiator robots catch 22 (some, the last half) flags of our fathers parts of letters from iwo jima
back to work.

just noticing how small normal beer cans are after i've been enjoying the pint sized ones all winter/spring. also, in that sentence pint-sized makes it seems small, but in this case it's much larger. so much larger infact the normal sized can seems like a baby beer, like a pint's kid.
i then had to come up with a song to match the tune of rock-a-bye-baby.
rock-a-bye beer can in the eight pack, when i come over i'll drink an i'll snack then i will drink all of you away, an that's why i am hungover today!

ah the weekend, long weekend, recovery monday an all. lets see if i can muster up some play-by-play of the weekend.
work ends on friday and nearly as soon as i got home i was on the couch fast asleep, the nap could only be classified as awesome. upon waking up i decided to take it easy, play a game on the computer (empire earth, few years old but still entertaining)
friday is not very eventful but i needed the rest
saturday was great from the start. i got up and was out the door an off to markham, i haven't been there since i moved out at the start of february. back to when there was snow on the ground, do you remember snow? cold and awful? yeah well you better remember the harsh alternative for the next time you even think of complaining about the heat.
anyways, markham, i was going to go get my haircut, i like to get my haircut by the same person each time, and don't like looking for someone else to cut it. hence the nearly two hour ttc ride to get a $12 haircut, which is actually the most expensive haircut i have ever recieved. and my instructions for such an expensive hair-do?
"cut right about here (pointing to a spot on my upper neck) and just cut straight across. it's getting long in the back and no one likes a mullet"
haircut done, i decided to check out the pacific mall, it's a good mall for just roaming about, also it's a good place to go to escape the now biblical-esque rains that are falling upon my person.
rain stopped, back on the bus down kennedy, transfer over at sheppard, transfer again at don mills station an over to leslie station, thats right you guessed it, it's time for another great trip to ikea.
something in the air at ikea makes you want to buy everything there is, mostly because their display showcases look really good but never translate quite as well in your own home, i wish my apt was like that 'live in twenty two square meters apartment' or whatever it is, it's basically a super compact cube room with everything in it.
but the trouble with ikea products is, most landlords don't approve of screws and nails in the walls, and most of the ikea items attach to their custom shelves, and their custom shelves nail or screw onto the walls. crap.
one small bathroom garbage bin and two funky green glass lamps, and one long wait in line later, an it's off for home. i'll get pics of the lamps later, but trust me, they're great.
saturday was a good day of getting things done, i came home that night, sipped on some beers and swept and mopped most of the apt, i did the rest today.
sunday was a lazy day that involved watching movies, like the 1966 version of alfie and the classic cheesy action flick tango & cash. kurt russel had a cowboy boot that was really a gun and could shoot out of the heel! imagine getting kicked and shot in one swift motion!
and thats my weird rant about the weekend, ikea and cleaned the apartment, i'm off in a bit to go watch star trek again. then a groovy weekend will be complete.

a story this early in aisle seven north

woke up this morning, thought it was saturday, then looked at the clock, realized it's friday and freaked cuz it said 10:35, then realized i looked at it wrong and it was actually 6:50am, plenty of time. i even sat and finished reading a book this morning.
ugly hooker (that's what i call her) was out askin people if they want a date at 9am this morning, she asked me 'want a date hun?" and i say loudly as i keep walking "it's nine in the morning! go home!"
at the coffee shop, i smell the next local freak show before i see her, the 80 year old super hairy chin woman, she smells of urine. like old person & old person urine.
friday!

wednesday!
i might go see a ballgame tonight, the yankee's are in town and the blue jays are doing awesome this year. i'll get my usual stratosphere cheap seat. less of a chance to be hit with a baseball that way. i'll bring my camera, so pictures could be eventually popping up on this no-name-esque journal site.
i've started reading books again, it's basically all i asked for christmas, and in january i started readinfg douglas coupland's the gum thief and suddenly stopped, not sure why. i took it back off the shelf the other day and having been nightly reading sessions ever since.
no other news that i can think of here.

security cam with a snooze button

so there's a local 'Coffee Time' place i go to in the mornings to get my breakfast. they know my order, sometimes i don't have to stand in line an they start making mine ahead of the five other folks waiting. it's the benefit of being a regular and getting the same thing everyday.
in this coffee time there's a small security camera up in the corner, and nearby there is a small black & white tv showing you, well, you. this by itself isn't that comical until recently they upgraded their security camera system.
they obviously watched a fuck load of McGuyver over the weekend.
near the camera there is what seems to be thick wire tapped to the wall with clear packaging tape, the entire roll of packaging tape. the wire seems to resemble a coat hangar that has been straightened out and then reshaped into this new addional security feature.
at the end of this wire two things are tapped in vertical tandem. the bottom item is a small section of a plastic card/name holder, similar to what you see placed below a tray of donuts, only it's shortened to only hold a small card that could only contain two digits, a day of the month perhaps? yes.
what's fastened above it is what really brings this arts & crafts session to fruition. a small bright red plastic battery operated alarm clock. and this is aimed towards the camera so that it sits perfectly in the bottom left corner of the black & white screen, to give accurate information in the event a crime breaks out, with one small exception.
it's ten minutes fast.
i don't think this new feature will properly hold up in court if an assailant can get his mug on a security camera at the same 'time' somewhere else.
"no i didn't rob the coffee time, i was getting a big mac across the street at 10:43am, how could i be in two places at once?"
it's a good thing i'm a regular there, or else i wouldn't have been able to give my order as i giggled my ass off.

tcaf

so last week was all leading up to one event, TCAF. and i mean all week lead up to it because i was working on tim's latest site design. it's deadline was tcaf. or at least that saturday morning. nothing was done on it friday because i was asleep at 9:30pm, i needed sleep.
7:30am i'm up and puttering away, although the site didn't get done until 2pm. off to tcaf!
the event was pretty packed and there was probably tons of stuff i'd like to buy, but i already decided i should mainly focus on shirts. i bought one from ramon perez, another shirt that has a mexican riding a velociraptor, and my favorite out of the bunch, a shirt from A Softer World that says 'fuck politics. i just want to burn shit down". classic. i'm wearing it at work right now.
one thing i did notice, and it was probably due to all the people in such a confined space. everyone was starting to sweat, and for a second i thought it was me who smelled of some variant of garlic, thankfully in those words of shaggy that everyone repeated in my first year of college..."it wasn't me".
i didn't return to tcaf sunday. hungover. that's a pretty sweet reason. instead on sunday i went up to the theatre on englington, got the best seat in the house and watched the new star trek movie. it's awesome. i may have to go back and see it again, its potentially that good.
next big movie is terminator: salvation. and finally transformers 2. hells yes.

i'll write up a better report of the past few days later, right now all you need to know is i did find a yellow hoodie, it's a bit too eye-piercingly brright yellow, and i thought i bought a medium, it said M on the hangar. but it's a small. solution? lose weight.
i also fed some pigeons downtown and yelled at a seagull in its native tongue, SQUAAWWK!

http://www.textsfromlastnight.com is my new favorite site. but i'm suffering from a brutal internal debate whether i'd like anything of mine posted there, so far it's either nothing should be posted, or something truely amazing.
if i'm going to make a spectacle of myself, i will not settle for mediocrity.
i'm also fairly certain that if clayton still had a cellphone i would send more crazy text messages.

been getting back into the tragically hip a lot more lately, discovering groovy tunes that i didn't know held the status as 'groovy' and/or "awesome'. silver jet is one such tune.
comic convention this weekend, i'll attempt to avoid purchasing something that could only be classified as 'stupid'. i'm not a fan of posters, but t-shirts are on my list. i need more t-shirts and odd comic shirts would be good to have.
that reminds me i still need to find a frame for my scarygoround print i recieved last fall. it's still in it's tube.
almost lunch time, which means walkabout time. the weather is becoming nicer an nicer each day. i'm a big fan of summer, and i think a good toronto heat wave should be on the menu soon.

meant to write on monday, but guess what, i didn't.
spent all sunday in movie watching mode on the couch/futon/bed/sleep zone where i watched the following:
cars transformers (fell asleep during the last big fight scene) star trek: nemesis firefly: jaynestown knocked up.
monday i was still super tired, but instead of going home and getting sleep, i went to a jay's game, cleveland won in the 12th inning, TWELVETH! i left in the 11th and caught the end of the 12th from a nearby pub where i was enjoying some good grub and a pint of rickards red.
tuesday, still tired. but the ballgame was entertaining so i didn't really regret going. after work however, insta-nap! from 5:20 right until 8pm-ish. of course this only makes it tough to get back to sleep later that night.
today still a bit tired. but better that earlier in the week. my sleep schedule goes crazy on the weekends, thursday an fridays seem to be my only good days.
apparently there's some kind of comic convention dealy this weekend. i should get out of the house an be social.
upcoming movies! now i rarely get excited for new theatrical releases, but this year seems pretty good, star trek, terminator: salvation, TRANSFORMERS 2, HP: halfblood prince.
i wasn't impressed with the wolverine movie.
ok so this has been a bit of a fragmented journal entry.
