|#29days minus a few
Posted on 06 Feb 2012 by tempo
|Another couple of days, another couple of photos. most of them terrible, ok, all of them are pretty bad. So far i'm just using things i find in my tiny apartment and stretching out the photo challenge requirements. So here's the daily topics and the pictures i've taken so far, don't worry about judging them, i already did that.
Smoosh...All that garbage in the bin
Not a Dinosaur...but godzilla is a reason to drink
EXTREME...ly weird sleep schedule
that's all for now, i'll have more pictures and a proper journal post tomorrow perhaps.

|so i wont get into instagram tonight, but its a free app for the iphone (soon to be out for android), and yesturday i discovered there's a photo challenge for february, each day there is a topic and you should take a picture of said topic and post it with the hashtag #29days. since i hadnt missed the start yet i figured i would try to take part. there is a list of each days topic so i suppose you can plan ahead if you have a really good/specific idea.
day one - miniature. i initially thought i was frigged on this one, then a quick look to my desk where i have not one, but two tiny models of the Vought F4U Corsair.
Scramble tiny corsair squadron
So far this winter is super mild, i'm still getting around town on the bicycle and when it hit 9 degrees celcius the other day it felt like a slight taste of spring, almost a sneak peak or preview of what's to come. bring it on.

|the resolutions of getting tasks done are slowly going ok, weight has not changed and i bike whenever its not below -10 and snowing or icy outside. i was supposed to write a journal post yesturday but it was the one neglected task i left until today. i was busy watching sherlock.
i heard rumours about a new sherlock holmes show, starring someone i dont know and someone else i dont really know from The Office, but i started to change my mind when i heard it was written by Steven Moffat. Fuck Yes. Next i learned that each season was only three episodes, three 90 minute episodes. Basically three movies. I'm almost done the final episode of season two and i really enjoyed the whole series.
Other recommended shows is one i was reccommended recently and i super enjoyed. Green Wing. It's a hospital filled with a ridiculous staff, all of whom have nearly no morals or shame. now go watch!
winter needs to frig off pronto.
|cough cough buzz buzz cough

|my phone has a chest cold.
the vibration thing in it is going wonky, it'll buzz if you brush the no-sound/vibrate button, or sometimes if you tap/press on certain parts of the case near it. So every once and a while i think i'm getting a call but no, its just my phone doing a quick buzz. but it's not done.
i recently got over a chest cold, and everyone knows its the damn cough that stays the longest, even if it doesnt hurt, it's annoying. You cough once, think your fine for a moment, but all that one cough did was alert other coughs that they're on deck and up next. one cough leads to a barrage of them. My phone now has this feature. One Buzz, moment of silence, then it will buzz itself crazy. The vibration devices was activated by the vibration of itself which was an acccident in the first place. cough cough buzz buzz god dammit.

|Nothing much happened lately so I figured I would supply you with a story from early December, I'll copy/paste it here but if you want you can read it the original here.
*tap tap tap* *tap tap tap*
someone is knocking at the door, i just got to sleep after working all night and someone is knocking on the god damn door at one in the afternoon.
*tap tap tap*
I'M COMING HOLD ON!, jeez, where are my clothes, grumble grumble grumble.
i open the door to see Laughing Guy, a large black man who lives on the top floor of my building who is a bit crazy and likes to stand on the top of the fire escape in summer in his boxers and giggle for long periods of time, hence the moniker "Laughing Guy". Laughing Guy once told me the bell on his cat's collar was to ward off evil spirits, laughing guy is by nature, unnerving.
laughing guy is standing there with a package and in his suprisingly meek caribbean voice he informs me that "dis was delivered to my apartment by accident, i live upstairs in fifteen" apparently my building might have two apartment fifteens, splendid.
he hands me the box and saunters away while i wake up and realize its my reddit secret santa gift, sleep can wait a bit.
i am certain before i open it that it is a beer mug, because i specifically asked for a beer mug. I've received beer mugs from my two previous secret santa exchanges and I informed my santa this year that only they could complete the hat-trick, the unholy-trinity and clearly awesome trifecta of beer mugs, I was not to be disappointed.
Inside was a mug, a shot glass, a beer, and a letter.
Booze and recepticles to place said booze in
The beer mug is from Cornell University that my santa purchased while on an awesome road trip with his brother, it is a large mug, large to hold the many beers required to contemplate higher learning quandries such as Could the universe be cereal box shaped? Who would win in a dance-off, Carl Sagan or Neil Degrasse Tyson? (Tyson obviously, he won a gold medal in dancing. although i'm sure Sagan could bring out some old school moves in a all cordoroy leisure suit that would be sure to impress even the coldest of dance enthusiasts), and if it is possible to like kraft dinner too much, it's not, but one should ponder already decided facts from time to time in order to prevent the gout and becoming bland.
The shot glass is from Queens University, it is rather large, I do not drink hard liqour but i will either drink a fuck load of beer out of so it has use or make a rare liqour purchase so that its destiny does not go unfulfilled.
Inside the beer mug was one of those large Grolsch pop-top bottles, a bottle that i always liked. I dont remember posting about grolsch but maybe my secret santa super sleuthed some specifics since stalking sir self so stellarly. splendid.
although i did notice the colour seemed a bit cloudy. the letter explained all that. in a way to subvert the system and avoid high beer prices in ontario, santa homebrews his own booze, inside the bottle is a 10% alcohol hard apple cider that was only bottled on december 1st and should sit for 4-5 weeks, so now i have a beer lined up for new years eve. fick ja!
i still need to get some sleep but not before i drink a beer from this mug. queue some tragically hip tunes.
thanks for the gifts santa, slainte.
Ps: my cat Bingo likes the box everything came in.

|so the new year has begun and it doesn't look like it's gonna slow down anytime soon. damn.
another year, another trip to halifax airport, this year i somehow wasn't randomly searched like every other year, but the guy behind me was. i spent an extra three hours at the gate this year due to bad weather in toronto, when they decided to not cancel the flight i was on the fence. I had a place to crash in hali and people to party with waiting, but i wanted to get back home too. Kinda odd that i think of Toronto as home, but i lived here for several years now, my bicycles and things and cat are here. Mostly i wanted to see my cat, i'm a bit of a softy that way. The cat's not a softy, she could survive prison.
gate 14, hello stationary plane
the next day i was walking down to the grocery store and thought i seen salt on the sidewalk, only it was too big and white to be salt, and it wasnt snow. i soon discovered it to be small styrofoam pellets. following the trail around the corner i see a sad deflated beanbag chair on the curb, at the end of its death march waiting for the garbage truck.
the parkdale furniture deathmarch
a new year and new resolutions. this site is one of them. 2011 sucked for many reasons and i just flat out ignored this place. my weight is another. i was 145lbs most of my life, i went to 165 for a bit, past two years i've been 205lbs. not good. i lived most of my life thin and being heavy isn't a fun thing. i didnt gain any weight in the past year because i was on my bicycle all the time. this year i need to put the extra effort in to reduce the weight, not just stop it. and to update more.
did you also know that a sngle serving of kraft dinner is one quarter box? what the flying fuck?

|2011 is done, thank fuck.
it wasnt the best year and i'm going to do a year end review. it would be way more swear words than normal words.
2012 will be tough but has promise. bring that shit on.
